🧠 CHESS DISCIPLINE CHECKLIST (Memorize This)

Here is a short, powerful discipline checklist you can memorize and use in every game.

Many strong players run this silently before every move ♟️

🧠 CHESS DISCIPLINE CHECKLIST (Memorize This)

Before Every Move

  1. What is my opponent threatening?

  2. Any checks on me?

  3. Any captures on my pieces?

  4. Is any piece hanging?

πŸ‘‰ If yes, fix it first.

Choosing a Move

  1. Is my king safe?

  2. Am I developed / improving my worst piece?

  3. Does this move create a weakness?

  4. Would I be happy if opponent plays best reply?

Before Attacking

  1. Do I have enough pieces involved?

  2. Is the center stable?

  3. Can opponent defend easily?

πŸ‘‰ No calculation = no attack.

When I’m Better

  1. Can I simplify safely?

  2. Can I improve position instead of forcing?

When I’m Worse

  1. Defend first, don’t complicate

  2. Trade pieces, not pawns

Endgame Discipline

  1. Activate my king

  2. Rooks behind passed pawns

  3. Avoid stalemate traps

πŸ”‘ One-Line Memory Version

Threats → Safety → Improve → Only then attack

or even shorter:

“Check, Capture, Threat — then play.”

πŸ† Daily Habit (Very Important)

  • If you forget this checklist during a game → slow down

  • Discipline = speed control

Final Truth

Most games below 1800 are lost by one undisciplined move.
